Local Government Officers

Course 1: Professional Development
Introduction to Local Government Finance (for Officers)

Presenter: Ron Back

This course aims to improve participants understanding and knowledge of financial instruments, standards and processes undertaken by Local Government and how the roles and responsibilities of the various team members interact.


Course 2: Professional Development
Managing Employee Performance

Presenter: John Phillips

This course has been designed to provide Chief Executive Officers, Managers and Supervisors with advice and guidelines on how to manage the areas of discipline and employee performance in the workplace. It goes through a step-by-step process to ensure that an appropriate process is followed and by understanding the framework of legislation that covers the issue, managers will also be better placed to deal with performance issues and avoid costly industrial action.


Course 3: Professional Development
Introduction to the Local Government Act

Presenter: Steve Smith

This course aims to enhance the ability of participants to effectively contribute their own knowledge and expertise to the Local Government industry.

It also aims to ensure that managers and officers comply with their role as professional advisers under the Local Government Act, and will enable participants to know what the Local Government Act contains and its objectives.
