We've all got expectations, of others, of ourselves, whatever sector you work in there's expectations. Whether they're community expectations of service delivery; government expectations of legislative compliance; customers' expectations of products; employees expectations of work conditions or employers expectations of performance.
Activity breeds expectations and over the last couple of years there have been a number of policies and programs developed at both a State and Federal level, including the State Waste Strategy, Product Stewardship Act, TV's and Computers Product Stewardship Scheme. This has created some great expectations but will they live up to them?
In Australia we've seen a major Government commitment in the form of a price on carbon – to reach this point there was massive public, political and media debate and the importance of science to underpin decision making was key. The complexity of climate science and what degree of certainty was needed for commitment was also a focus.

Great Expectations
